Learning, learning, learning...

The next day, we started learning bright and early. We learned about the history of education in Senegal, and what going to school is like right now. Our teacher showed us his son's high school schedule. It's filled with foreign language and science classes. Sounds fun!

this looks like a tough but interesting schedule

Then we went to a University where we met some students who were studying to become teachers. They were so smart and funny. They will make great teachers.

But first, some of us had some important business: had to catch some pokemon.

One thing that I thought was sad was that there was a lot of trash lying on the ground. It made a beautiful school look unhealthy for people and nature. More on this problem later.

We went sight-seeing afterwards. We visited an important monument called the African Renaissance Monument. It celebrates the achievements of the African people. It's the tallest statue in Africa at over 160 ft, taller than the Statue of Liberty, and it is made of bronze, just like the Statue of Liberty.
It's a statue of a child being held up by a man and a woman

It's hard to tell how big it really is

this was a gift from another African country from when the monument was opened

We saw lots of people enjoying the cool ocean weather. They rode bikes, played ball, and exercised next to the ocean.

For dinner, we went to a restaurant with a view of the city. When I looked out the window, I was able to see a goat in someone's back yard. Dinner was delicious, as usual.
